Salsa Dancing in Puerto Vallarta
Saturday is the night, the lesson is free, and there is no cover. La Catrina Cantina is a balcony bar above the Zona Romantica where Saturday runs as one continuous Latin night: a beginner lesson at 7pm, then live salsa until close. You do not need a partner, you do not need to know how to dance, and you do not need to pay to get in.
What happens on a Saturday
- 7:00pm, free bachata and salsa lesson with instructor Sopphie. Come to dance or come to watch.
- 8:00pm to 10:00pm, Salsa Night with Alex Wera and Roberto Diaz. Reggaeton, bachata, salsa and merengue.
- 10:00pm to 11:00pm, Salsa Night with Trio de Tres.
Most shows have no cover, so you can walk up the stairs and join whichever part of the night suits you. Arrive at seven if you want the lesson, or later if you would rather watch the floor fill first.
Do I need a partner or any experience?
Neither. The 7pm lesson is aimed at people who have never done it, and it exists so that the floor at eight is full of beginners rather than only regulars. People turn up alone and pair off in the lesson. That is the normal way to arrive.
Friday is Latin too, later and looser
If Saturday does not work, Friday carries the same music without the lesson:
- 10:00pm, Stella Rosas, Latin rhythms.
- 11:00pm, Noches de Fiesta Mexa, Mexican party night.
Friday runs until 2:00am, so it is the later of the two.
